2. Alcohol and weight loss

  1. Alcohol and weight loss do not go together! Alcohol is empty calories that have no nutritional benefit!

Alcohol contains almost as much energy as fat. With one half-liter glass of beer, we take in about 220 calories while 2 dcl of wine bring in 150 calories – almost as much as a healthy snack!

With liquor, energy intake is even higher.

    Alcohol accelerates fat storage

In addition to empty calories, alcohol entails other risks, too. The body perceives it as a toxic substance, and therefore it tries to get rid of it as quickly as possible. While doing that, your body no longer has the capacity to burn the calories we have consumed in food – there goes your figure.

Alcohol weakens your will significantly. With alcohol, the appetite for snacking increases – there go salty and fatty foods that ruin your whole effort.

What to do if you cannot resist?

So, if you want to treat yourself to a glass of wine, take some dry white wine. Dry white wine contains the least calories and sugars.

Although a slightly more caloric option, red wine is also beneficial to your health (to a reasonable degree). It contains resveratrol – an antioxidant that protects the heart, blood vessels, acts against cancer and has a positive effect on the lungs.
